love list

It's finally Friday! Trevor and I have been looking forward to this weekend for so long. We're hosting a cook out with family from both sides and we'll also announce our exciting baby news to our family. Since I've been looking at summery recipes all week to get ideas for the cook out, a few of my favorites are food.

1. City Quilt Kits- Haptic Lab is selling DIY kits to make quilts that instead of quilt blocks, you have city blocks on the quilt. The kits include a map of many major cities, a world map or even a map of the stars. You can stitch up and down the city blocks and embroider certain areas that have important meaning to you.  They have so many pictures of the different quilts made and I love that you can make them so personal!

2. S'mores cheesecake- Get into my belly right now. S'mores. Cheesecake. Enough said.

3. Lavender Lemonade- I love lavender and I love lemonade, and this makes me think so much of summer. I just planted lavender outside in our yard, and I can't wait to try this recipe out!

I've taken so many pictures of our polka dotted master bedroom and the herringbone wall (still in progress) in the nursery. I'm going to be posting tutorials on both projects since I've found out through trial and error what works and what doesn't for these projects.
ps- here's a sneak peek at our herringbone wall that I am in love with.

12 weeks

How far along: 12 weeks
General feeling: bloated. There are times when I know it's a baby bump popping out because it's hard to the touch, but most of the time I "pop" after I eat a lot.
Weight gain: when I went to the doctor a few days ago, my weight was pretty typical of what it was pre-pregnancy. So none yet, I guess.
Cravings: nope.
Sleep: I now am a pro at sleep walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Miss anything: grocery shopping without being ex.haust.ed. afterwards. I get so worn out from everything lately.
Best moment of this week: Having a doctor appointment this past week. I got to meet my OB and I heard the heartbeat at the beginning of the appointment. (Actually, I pretended to hear it because all I heard on the doppler was my heartbeat and what sounded like some hard core belly gurgles.) The doctor said our little guy has a very strong heartbeat (161 bpm) and the likelihood of a miscarriage has dropped to 2% for us. And, we are super duper excited to have started painting the nursery.
Looking forward to: Telling our family in t-minus one week now. We wanted to keep it a secret from as many people as we could through the first trimester as a "just in-case" something went wrong so we wouldn't have to go through the heartache of having to tell dozens of people things went bad. Since I knew my side of the family couldn't keep a secret for a few months, we've kept our lips zipped (as best we could) for what feels like an eternity now.

11 weeks

How far along: 11 weeks
Weight gain: a little under a week ago, I stepped on a scale and found out I had actually lost a few pounds, but I'm pretty sure I've gained it all back (plus some) since then. Over this past week, I've gotten an unmistakable bump, especially after I eat anything. Trev looked at me a few nights ago and said "Honey, you're going to be huge." Since it's still a week or two until we tell family, I'm having to wear the loosest clothing I have in an attempt to try and hide the baby bump.
Cravings: not really.
Queasy or nauseous: It's getting better (not that it was ever horrible), but every so often I feel disgusting.
Sleep: Still getting up at least once a night to go to the bathroom, but I've gotten so use to that I pretty much sleep walk through them.
Miss anything: having naps be a luxury, not a necessity
Best moment of this week: Finishing painting our entry way and most of our master bedroom! Which means we can move onto the nursery next. :)
Looking forward to: Not having to hide this little lumpa-bump.

love list

Shortly after we found out I was pregnant, I began searching for baby blanket knitting patterns. After looking high and low, I absolutely fell in love with this blanket from purl soho. I love so many of the patterns they offer and their designs are darling. This particular blanket is very simple and I love the nubby texture that garter stitches have. I'm using colors that will match the color palette we have picked out for the nursery.

I found the recipe for this drink on Pinterest (and unfortunately I can't find the original source site for it), and could not wait to make it myself before I went to bed one night. You heat up milk and add a smidgen of vanilla, honey and cinnamon. I love it and it reminds me of cozy fall days.

We love the idea of having an accent wall in the nursery, and this pattern is fun and whimsical. Both Trevor and I like that this pattern is chevron-y but imperfect in that the stripes don't always match up. We're planning on doing something similar in emerald green with a few gold blocks scattered on the wall as well.

4. mango popsicles
When Trevor and I went grocery shopping last week, I decided to forgo the ice cream and instead get fruit popsicles instead. The mango bars from Fruttare are amazing and I could seriously eat a whole box in two days.

10 weeks

How far along: 10 weeks
Weight gain: no idea, but it certainly feels like a lot
Cravings: anything savory! Food I normally want, like ice cream, just doesn't sound that good.
Queasy or nauseous: Typically I'm alright, but last night was rough. Ugh.
Sleep: Nightly pee trips are the norm.
Miss anything: having energy. Walking up a flight of stairs wears me out.
Best moment of this week: Finally doing a 10 week update! After finding out at my ultrasound that our little bean was measuring a few days smaller than we thought, I've had to wait a week and a half to finally reach 10 weeks. Another favorite moment was also Trevor wishing me a happy mother's day this morning.
Looking forward to: Finally being able to tell our families in a few weeks. We're hosting a barbecue at the beginning of June and plan on telling people while everyone's together. It's so hard to keep our mouths shut lately!

The past few days, Trevor and I have been working on ideas for the nursery, and I can't wait to share them soon!

love list

12 classic love scenes improved by a chipotle burrito - this makes me laugh so hard I want to cry.  After that, it makes me want Chipotle so bad I want to cry.

striped long sleeve bodysuit - it's not too early to start shopping, right? ;)

healthy ice cream recipe - because sometimes I just really need something sweet.  But don't want to feel gross afterwards.

edible eggless chocolate chip cookie dough - because sometime I just really need something sweet, but don't care if I feel gross afterwards.

thankful thursday

Yesterday I went in for my first doctor's appointment, which I was honestly so nervous about.  I had absolutely no reason to be nervous- every single person I ran into at the hospital was so kind and encouraging to me.  Since our families still don't know about the pregnancy (we're waiting till the end of the first trimester), it was so exciting to be able to talk about our hopes and our worries thus far.  After I met with the nurse, she sent me to get blood work, a urine analysis and an ultrasound done. I was so excited that she scheduled me for the ultrasound.  As a result, Trevor and I are now in possession of some new family pictures (and even a few videos!).

The little bean is measuring 5 days smaller than what we thought, but that wasn't too shocking since this little kid was a total surprise for us.  My favorite part of yesterday was seeing the heartbeat.  I am so happy and thankful we have videos, because I am absolutely mesmerized with watching that tiny little heart flutter on the screen.
